Overview
Carolina Sacristán Ramírez is a lecturer at the School of Humanities and Education at Tecnológico de Monterrey Campus Puebla. She has a doctorate in Art History from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México and a harpsichordist graduated from the “Arrigo Pedrollo” Conservatory of Vicenza, Italy.
She was Visiting Scholar at the Blanton Museum of Art and LLILAS Benson Latin American Studies and Collections, both belonging to the University of Texas at Austin. Her research, which explores the links between visual culture and sound culture, has been funded by the Thoma Art Foundation and CONACYT. She has published several articles along these lines, including “Audible Paintings: Religious Music and Devotion to the Infancy of Christ in the Art of the Viceroyalty of Peru” (2019), which appeared in MAVCOR Journal, a magazine sponsored by Yale University.
Since 2010, she has been a member of the Seminary of Music in New Spain and Independent Mexico based at the Institute of Aesthetic Research of the UNAM. She collaborates in the project "Catalogue of music books and papers of the Archive of the Cabildo Metropolitan Cathedral of Mexico", in which he was co-responsible for the electronic catalog Musicat-ADABI available in the Turriana Library of Mexico City. She currently participates in projects aimed at the dissemination of the humanities and the arts through the use of technological resources.
