Overview
Dr. Alejandro Poiré is an expert and a nationally and internationally recognized lecturer on democracy, security, governance, and development. He is currently a Distinguished Visiting Professor on Government and Public Transformation at Tecnológico de Monterrey, where he has served as Vice President for Outreach and Engagement, Dean of the School of Social Sciences and Government, and Dean of the School of Government and Public Transformation.
His research interests revolve around pluralism, elections, democracy, and technology. During the 2025-2026 academic year, he will be a visiting research fellow at the Chicago Center on Democracy at the University of Chicago. He has also served as a visiting professor and researcher at the Harvard Kennedy School and the Hoover Institution at Stanford University. He is a member of the Board of Directors of Scotiabank México and a member of the Fundación México en Harvard, A.C.
In public service in Mexico, between 2006 and 2012, he held positions that included Secretary of Governance, Deputy Secretary for Population, Migration, and Religious Affairs, and Head of the Unit for Political Development. He was also Executive Director of Prerogatives and Political Parties at Mexico’s Federal Electoral Institute (IFE) from 2003 to 2005.
Alejandro Porié joined Tecnológico de Monterrey as a Distinguished Visiting Professor on Government and Public Transformation for the School of Social Sciences and Government and for the School of Government and Public Transformation.
