The Tecnológico de Monterrey, Laguna campus, is a private, non-profit university, independent and free from political and religious affiliations.

The work of Tec at all its campuses is supported by civil associations made up of distinguished leaders from across the country who are committed to the quality of higher education.

Tec de Monterrey was founded in 1943 thanks to the vision of Don Eugenio Garza Sada and a group of Mexican entrepreneurs who made the dream of creating a cutting-edge educational institution a reality, which over time has become the best educational institution in the country.

In Torreón, the university began operations in 1975 with two high school groups at the facilities of Colegio La Luz, in the Estrella neighborhood. One year later, the professional level was launched.

In 1982, the construction of the Tecnológico de Monterrey, Laguna campus, started in the Ampliación La Rosita neighborhood. A year later, the construction of Classrooms I was completed, marking the inauguration of the campus facilities.

Over the years, the university in Torreón inaugurated various buildings and offices:

• 1992 - Student Affairs Office and Classrooms II
• April 1993 - International Competitiveness Center (CCI)
• November 1999 - Arena Borregos Santiago A. Garza de la Mora
• 2003 - Integral Center for Manufacturing and Technology (CIMTEC)
• May 17, 2005 - Francisco Martín Borque Information and Educational Technology Center (CITE)
• April 2012 - Educational Innovation Center (ETLAC), formerly Classrooms I
• 2013 - Armando Martín Borque Educational Innovation Center (PrepaTec), formerly Classrooms II
• 2018 - Support Services Building (ESA), formerly CCI
• 2019 - Remodeling of Student Affairs, now the Student Center

In 2019, the Tecnológico de Monterrey, Laguna campus, located in Torreón, launched the Educational Model along with the rest of the country, aiming to maximize the innovation capabilities of its students through challenges with partner organizations.

The challenges we face daily reaffirm that our academic efforts, such as comprehensive challenge-based education, will help our graduates maintain important positions in the workforce or develop significant ventures.
