Ciudad Obregón

The Tecnológico de Monterrey is a private, non-profit, independent and non-partisan university, founded in 1943 thanks to the vision of Don Eugenio Garza Sada and a group of businessmen, who formed a civil association called Enseñanza e Investigación Superior, A.C. (Higher Education and Research, A.C.).

It was on September 17, 1973 when the southern region of Sonora saw the establishment of the first Tec de Monterrey campus outside of Nuevo Leon in the Yaqui Valley.

A group of businessmen, headed by Don Javier Robinson Bours Almada, supported by the state and federal government, were the ones who promoted the birth of the Tec in Ciudad Obregón.

At the beginning, it offered a degree in Agricultural Engineering, with the specialties of philotechnics and zootechnics, with a research orientation.

During the month of September 2023, the 80th anniversary of Tecnológico de Monterrey was celebrated, as well as the 50th anniversary of the Ciudad Obregón campus.
